Aims

The aims of the event are to:

Encourage cycling in the community

We hope that families and individuals will gain cycling confidence from the ride and continue to enjoy the activity through the rest of the year. Cycling is a great form of exercise which families can enjoy together. Regular cycling is not just good for hearts and muscles but helps to develop children’s road sense and confidence.

Raise funds for the PTA and a partner charity

We try to keep the entrance fee low to encourage as many people as possible to participate. Our partners Beville Estate Agency, Sonning Common Health Centre, Sonning Common Garages, the Henley Standard and Browns of Henley have enabled us to guarantee that all monies paid by participants will go direct to the charitable proceeds.
In 2008, we raised £2,600 from entry fees, donations from individuals and local businesses and food sales on the day. We shared the proceeds between the Sonning Common Parent Teachers’ Association and the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust.
In 2009 our chosen charity was once again the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust. 448 riders completed a 5 or 12 mile circuit on quiet lanes in the beautiful South Oxfordshire countryside and raised over £3000 for charity.

In 2010 our chosen charity will be
